A huge thank you from Californians Building Bridges for everyone's support with the 2016 Carlos Varela concert! It was a truly memorable and successful event.

We look forward to this year's concert!

December 2, 2016 - The Barn at Tyge William Cellars
Cornerstone, Sonoma

This winter, Californians Building Bridges (CBB) is once again bringing close friend and world-renowned Cuban singer-songwriter CARLOS VARELA and his band to Northern California to perform a live benefit concert. Varela's band includes Aldo Lopez-Gavilan on the piano, Julio Cesar Gonzalez on the bass, David Suarez on drums and Roberto Luis Gomez on electric guitar. This year's concert will benefit Father Usera's Daycare Center in Havana, in addition to CBB's continued work in support of cultural, humanitarian and entrepreneurial exchange between the people of Cuba and California.

Carlos has become a close friend of CBB. He was recently featured on the HBO special, “Poet of Havana” and has provided concerts for our delegates traveling to Cuba. Carlos has agreed to perform this concert and help CBB to raise funds for the benefit of the Father Usera Day Care Center. This day care center makes it possible for single parents to work while their children are nurtured in a safe and healthy environment. The daycare center attends each day to approximately 160 children aged 2-4 years old. It received international attention when Pope Francis visited there on his historic trip to Cuba. CBB has a very close relationship with Sister Teresa Vaz, Director of the day care center. This is just one example of CBB's continued effort to support humanitarian exchanges between the people of Cuba and California.

In this special moment between our two countries, we hope that you will join us for a live performance of the music that has moved people in Cuba, in the United States and throughout the world.
