The first two times Californians Building Bridges brought close friend and world-renowned Cuban musician CARLOS VARELA to California for a live benefit concert was such a success that CBB has decided to host the singer-songwriter once again in 2016 for a third concert.

Weill Hall at Green Music Center, Sonoma State University

Californians Building Bridges (CBB) brought close friend and world-renowned Cuban singer-songwriter CARLOS VARELA to Northern California to perform a live benefit concert in the summer of 2015. The concert was greatly beneficial for CBB's continued work in support of cultural, humanitarian and entrepreneurial exchange between the people of Cuba and California.

On December 17, 2014 President Obama announced the intention to open diplomatic relations with Cuba. In response to this announcement, the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the organization which authorizes travel to the island, published updated travel regulations. Under the new regulations, people-to-people travel is authorized under the general license (section 515.565 (b)). People-to-people programs must be led by an authorized organization, such as CBB, and involve a full-time schedule of activities that result in meaningful interaction between travelers and individuals in Cuba. Californians Building Bridges has one upcoming people-to-people exchange. If you would like to participate in this trip or coordinate a private group trip, please contact or call 866-850-3720.

CBB is thrilled with the success of the 2014 Cuban Sommelier Summit, a professional development program which took place July 20-26, 2014. Designed to introduce, educate and connect the sommeliers to experienced leaders in California's prestigious wine industry, the program covered all aspects of the industry ranging from grape selection to brand marketing. CBB partnered with the California Wine Institute, the Napa Valley Vintners, and the Sonoma County Vintners to host this program. CBB is extremely thankful for the support we received to make this experience possible.

Californians Building Bridges (CBB) is a 501 c (3) organization that supports people-to-people cultural, humanitarian and entrepreneurial exchange between the people of Cuba and California. CBB's leadership first began building bridges between California and Cuba in 2002. Since CBB's establishment in 2010, CBB has sponsored more than 70 delegation visits to Cuba. These programs offer a unique blend of experience and insight into Cuban policy, culture, art and the emerging private sector.
CBB provides a unique opportunity for CA business leaders to gain an understanding of the current social and economic opportunities and to engage directly with the Cuban people. Currently, CBB sponsors an average of twelve annual "people-to-people" educational exchanges to Cuba and one or more exchange visits by Cuban artists, musicians and entrepreneurs to the United States.
